Twelve year 11 students interested in a career in medicine attended a medical day at Stockton Sixth Form College on 2nd March.
They event gave our students the opportunity to meet people in the medical profession. The children who attended all want to be doctors and they said that the experience had been very interesting and useful and that it would be something they could put on their CV.
The event, which was ran by fifth year medical students from universities around the country, was extremely engaging and insightful. They provided careers advice and guidance relating to the medical profession. Our students responded really well to this and gained a good overview about applying to medical school.
Following the introductory talk students were put into teams with other schools and they took part in 3 workshops, Anatomy, The Heart and Medical Ethics. Each session was an hour long and again ran by medical students. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and interacted with other groups really well.
